San Francisco Peaks

San Francisco Peaks

Yesterday we explored some of the trails around Pioneer Park. A city map of the trails shows their length but not their color coding (blue, brown, green, purple, red) and the map seems to miss some of the informal trails that mountain bikers have established. We initially followed the purple trail that runs parallel to the Pioneer Parkway. Granite Peak was pockmarked with snow. In the distance we could see the snow capped San Francisco Peaks. After we encountered a stretch of muddy trail, we decided to return via a central service road. Along this road the city stores various natural materials and removes dirt from a hillside. It was good to be out and about.
