Seventeen chess players participated in the Prescott Quads #4 held at Yavapai College on Saturday. This U. S. Chess Federation rated event was divided into four sections based on rating.

Prescott Chess Expert Jeff Hardin won $50 for his two wins and a draw in Section A composed of the four highest rated chess players. Luke Calhoun, a Candidate Master from Sedona, received $25 for his 2nd place finish with a 2-1 record. Calhoun won last year’s Prescott Open.

Prescott’s Dr. Henry Ebarb, the 70-plus Arizona State Chess Champion, was the top finisher in Section B. His 2.5-0.5 score earned the $50 1st place prize money. W. H. Archer, Flagstaff, won the $25 2nd place prize money with a 2-1 score.

David Sletton, Las Vegas, won the $50 1st place prize money in Section C for his undefeated 3-0 score. David Steeves, Prescott, collected the $25 2nd place prize money for his 2-1 record.

Phillip Ebarb

In Section D, Phillip Ebarb and Michael Ebarb, both from Prescott, split the section’s $75 prize money for their 3-1 records.
