Mexico Lindo Dancer

Prescott’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta took place yesterday on Gurley Street between Cortez and Montezuma. This event, sponsored by the Prescott – Caborca, Mexico Sister City Committee, featured the Mariachi Real Jalisco Band and the Mexico Lindo Folkloric Dancers. We sat on the Yavapai County Courthouse steps while enjoying the first set by the Mariachi Real Jalisco Band. When the microphone was turned on, the string instruments could be heard for some balance with the strong trumpet. We migrated to the closed off portion of Gurley Street to drink margaritas during the Mexico Lindo Folkloric Dancers following remarks by the Prescott mayor, Mexico’s Phoenix office deputy consulate, and other dignitaries.

The finish line for the 36th annual Whiskey Row Marathon was located on the other side of the Yavapai County Courthouse. This fundraiser for the YMCA featured a marathon, half marathon, 10 kilometer, and 2 mile course. More than a half dozen massage tables were set up and doing a brisk business. Prescott supports the arts and an active lifestyle.
