Dropping the Boot

Dropping the Boot

Our friends Jim and Natalie prepared their chicken enchilada recipe for our final 2013 meal. We brought in the New Year in downtown Prescott. We walked around the Yavapai County Courthouse, enjoying the colorful lights, before finding a spot on the street in front of Whiskey Row. A local radio station played mainly country western tunes from the Prescott stage while transmitting video footage of the crowd interspersed with sponsor ads on two large screens. Behind the stage were several fire trucks including one with a large boot hanging from the extended ladder. In the final minutes of the year, the boot was lit up with flashing lights as it dropped. Unfortunately, fireworks were not displayed from the top of the parking garage because cars were parked there. Next year please close off the top of the parking lot early in the day. Happy 2014 to all!
