The May 5th Columbus Symphony program started with the Prokofiev Classical Symphony, Op. 25 (Symphony No.1). In the second piece, the featured artist, Vladim Gluzman, wowed us with his virtuso playing of his, on loan, 1690 ex-Leopold Auer Stradivarius in Glazunov's Concerto in A Minor for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 82. The final piece was Elgar's Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36 ("Enigma Variations"). Although I have heard criticisms of the sound quality in the Ohio Theatre, it is a beautiful venue. City Center, unfortunately, is in bad shape. Mostly empty stores, even the parking lot was deserted while charging more than in previous years.
